We build community around growing trees–healthy trees for healthy neighborhoods–especially those that most need trees and shade. Trees enrich and engage us because they offer cooling, beauty, social places, wildlife habitat, ecological services, and more. 

We are inspired by Kate Sessions, who led San Diegans a hundred years ago to grow trees in Balboa Park and in their gardens. One of her commitments was to plant 100 trees in public spaces, in exchange for using land in City Park (now Balboa Park) for a nursery.
